Mumbai, Apr 7 (IBNS) As a part of the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2014, festival ambassador and actress Vidya Balan did a photo shoot with Australia’s celebrated designers - Akira Isogawa and Susan Dimasi
Akira Isogawa is one of Australia’s most prominent contemporary designers. He has dressed most of Australia’s notable figures including the famous gown that Cate Blancett wore when she won the oscar for Elizabeth.
Akira created a special dress for Vidya true to Vidya’s style - a fusion of his Japanese roots and Australian chic.
Susan Dimasi presented Vidya in a stunning sari. The fabric was specially designed by Susan, by hand weaving a textile with silk ribbon through a rubber net drawing inspiration from the 18th century brocades out of the Victorian art gallery’s collection.
The hand woven textile was exhibited at the prestigious Melbourne Now arts exhibition at the iconic National Gallery of Victoria. And then draped on Vidya as a sari.
The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne runs from May 1 to May 11, screening over 45 films with over 30 Australian premieres.
The festival will be opened by superstar Amitabh Bachchan on May 1.
