Mumbai/UNI: The Rupee on Friday slipped by 17 paise to close negative at 74.05 against the US Dollar on rising demand for US Dollars by bankers and importers, dealers at the Forex Market said.
The local unit that gained by 9 paise to 73.79 against the Dollar in early trade, declined and settled at 74.05, tumbling down by 17 paise as compared to its previous close.
The Rupee was seen weak because of firm Dollar against other world currencies amid weak stock market, dealers added.
The rupee registered intra days high and low at 74.09 and 73.76 respectively, they added.
